What The Tide Chart stores, what it never stores, and the choices you have. Short, and in plain language.

The short version

We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads at any tier, and you can use the entire tide product without an account. We store what you explicitly save — favorites, alerts, units — and nothing else you didn’t ask us to keep.

What we store

If you browse anonymously we keep your unit and theme preferences in your own browser’s local storage — they never reach our servers. If you create an account we store the name and email address you give us, the stations you save as favorites and the alert rules you set. That is the complete list.

Location

“Near me” uses your browser’s location API to find the closest stations. We ask first, we use the coordinate once for that lookup, and we never track your location in the background or store precise coordinates on our servers.

Cookies & local storage

We use local storage to remember your units, theme and last-viewed station, plus a small cookie so the page can be rendered in the right theme and units before any JavaScript runs. The two analytics tools described below each set a first-party cookie so a returning browser is not counted twice. We use no advertising cookies, and nothing here follows you to other sites.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used with Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, and with Clicky. Between them that is page views, where you arrived from, your country and device type, and a short list of product events we name ourselves — a signup, a starred station, a printed sheet, a search. It is aggregate reporting, not a profile: no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers, no ad network on any page at any tier, and nothing sold or shared for advertising.

How we share data

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers needed to run the site, such as hosting and email delivery, under agreements that forbid them using it for anything else.

Your rights & choices

You can ask us to show, export or delete any data you have sent us — your account, your favorites, your alerts or a contact message — at any time, and we will do it without asking why. Deleting an account is immediate and takes everything attached to it with it: do it yourself in the app (More › Settings › Account › Manage Account › Delete account) or on the page below, which also lists exactly what goes and works whether or not you can sign in.
